Cody Hillis was named Logger of the Year in 2005 and danced to celebrate with his best girl, Diane Wagner. The annual logging show held in Thorne Bay on Prince of Wales Island in Alaska's Tongass National Forest is the "real thing"—not a tourist show—where loggers, past loggers, and aspiring loggers compete.

Cody and his family were my neighbors in Whale Pass Alaska and he is a wonderful young man. I remember my years there with great joy and his family was part of the specialness of that three years. I wish everyone could have such an experience to carry with them.

Cody and his family represent the good that results with folks living in such a special place like this; the collection of the energy that this place gives and often takes.
