During a horseracing festival in Maqu in China's Gansu Province, a Tibetan nomad leads his horse across grass plains covered in prayer notes. Photographer Fritz Hoffmann made this image through a bunch of balloon strings blowing in the wind. The balloons are not just decoration: People send their prayers to heaven by tying prayer flags to balloons and releasing them into the sky.
