Photo: Thorny devil
November 29, 2007
Robert Clark photographed this thorny devil (Moloch horridus), normally a desert dweller, standing in a dish of water at Alice Springs Desert Park in Australia. Capillary structures on the thorny devil's skin allow it to wick water on its body into its mouth, a handy trait for a creature living in an extremely hot and dry environment.
